About the Shootout:

The Duke City Shootout is a week-long digital filmmaking competition
dedicated to melding technology, creativity and education to produce
and promote the next generation in filmmaking. The Duke City Shootout
is the only filmmaking festival that provides filmmakers with the
opportunity to fully produce their short scripts in seven days. For our
10th Shootout in 2010, we're adding the production of music videos to
our competition!

Scripts and music video submissions are selected through an international competition. Winning writers and musicians are provided
travel stipends to get to New Mexico, given a full production crew,
equipment, and a professional mentor to bring their stories and music
videos to life through digital, high-definition production. The week
will culminate with the Gala Premiere Night on Jul. 31, 2010 at the
Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque. All short films and music videos will be
screened and awards given out, including the Palm de Grease for best
picture.

Winning scripts and music video treatments will be announced on or around June 7, 2010. Pre-production will begin immediately after
winners are announced. The 2010 Duke City Shootout will begin
production at 8 am, Sat. Jul. 24, 2010, and wrap post-production at 8
am, Sat. Jul. 31, 2010. Judging will occur Sat. Jul. 31, 2010 with
awards announced at the Gala Premiere Night on Sat. Jul. 31, 2010.

The Duke City Shootout is hosted by the Digital Filmmaking Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization based in
Albuquerque, New Mexico, dedicated to advancing the art and technology
of digital filmmaking through training and innovative competitions.
This year's mentors and judges will be announced at a future date. Past
mentors and judges have included such luminaries as Morgan Freeman, Tom
Waits, Peter Fonda, Phyllis Diller, Talia Shire, Patricia Cardoso, Dan
Mirvish, Michael Steinberg, Ellen Sandler, Donal Logue, Jim Mercurio,
Tracy Mercer, Debbie Denise, Linda Goldstein and Barry Alexander Brown.
