Therapeutic-grade oils are very potent and concentrated, and therefore anything that goes into the ground and air during harvest, will also go into the oil when distilled. So, it stands to reason that they need to be grown organically. It they are not, all the pesticides will be inside this oil that we are going to be putting on ourselves or in ourselves, causing havoc instead of healing.
If we want an oil to be truly effective, and not just smell good, it needs to be distilled properly so that they don't lose any of their chemical properties that make them unique. Proper temperature must be maintained throughout the distillation process, and pressure, length of time, equipment, and batch size need to be strictly monitored, or else the oils simply will be no better than any of the cheaply sold adulterated oils on the market. For example, if we know anything about food preparation, we know that in order for something to have the highest nutrients it needs to be raw, or at least steamed at very low temperatures so that the nutrients don't escape. When something boils for a long time, it loses it's nutrients in the air, so something may seem nutritious because it has veggies, but it's been cooked to death literally. Same goes with the oils. If they are not properly distilled, they will no longer have the benefits that we are looking for. We need to find a company that we can trust will give us the highest quality oils, bar none, if we want the health benefits from them, and not just purchase them because of the aroma.
